Dear Sisters,
Founder's Day is always personal for me, as I hope it is for you. While you may not have the Founder as your grandfather, you are part of a sisterhood of hundreds of thousands of women because of the dream he and a small group of women began 94 years ago.
We all have dreams that we hope will make the world better, even in small ways. However, few of us dream as big as to create something that lasts this long and touches so many lives. What we often forget is that, in a very real sense, we are the builders of this living organization just as my grandfather and those early sisters were.
Because of them --and because of us--we have made the world a better place for those around us and for those we will never know. Beta Sigma Phi has created countless human angels who have spread love, joy and kindness. As we know, God often sends angels disguised as people, and I believe Beta Sigma Phi is one of His favorite tools for creating angels and sharing His many blessings.
That is why I particularly love this year's theme: Beta Sigma Phi: Angels of Friendship, suggested by Jennifer Robey-Williams, an inactive sister from Filer, ID. I hope someone will let her know her suggested theme was heard and celebrated at Founder's Day this year. Of course, we will also notify her. This theme beautifully captures who we are and what we strive to be. We do our best to make the world better for those we know and for everyone we encounter. While some days are challenging, the joy and gratitude we receive in response to our smiles and acts of kindness always make the effort worthwhile.
Never forget the love, joy and kindness Beta Sigma Phi has spread throughout the world for 94 years. Continue to share that angel's touch with women you welcome into your chapters. God can always use more angels, and He delights in seeing His children spreading joy and good news.
As we celebrate this milestone, honor the legacy of every sister before us who has been one of God's Angels of Friendship. You have brought light to so many lives, including mine. I hope you feel as abundantly happy and fulfilled as I do because of this sisterhood.
