Dear Sisters,
We have come through another challenging year worldwide. We are grateful for all our sisters who continue to be active in the organization. We have all made sacrifices and that includes everyone at International as well Because of inflation, it would be advantageous for us to raise our fees to keep up with costs but we have chosen not to because we are all facing these challenges. Our staff is still giving up one day of pay per pay period. We had hoped the end of Covid restrictions would allow us to give our employees that day back, but inflation took that option away. I am grateful everyone here is willing to make that sacrifice.
We have gone through every kind of challenge this country has seen since 1931 and we have continued to thrive. Now that we can gather again most places, we can once again hug and enjoy our sisters and how good we cook. Thankfully, we are together to help each other face these new challenges and we know deep down it is better to go through challenges with our sisters' support.
This past year's challenges were made easier because we have Friends at Our Fingertips. With the touch of a button we could connect with our sisters by phone text or Zoom. When restrictions lifted we could finally be together in person to be there with and for each other through all these new challenges making them easier to handle. The only thing that could make that even stronger is to have more sisters to reach out to and together support each other. And that brings us to our new theme for the upcoming year, "Watch BSP Grow & Bloom." Member Charlene Ourso of Louisiana Laureate Alpha Alpha, Baton Rouge suggested the these as "Watch BSP Bloom ad Grow," we switched a couple of words, but all the words are still hers, we just switched the order. It is imperative that we grow again, that we bring back sisters who drifted during the pandemic and as always look for women who need girlfriends, as we all do.
I think all of us have special memories that we treasure and for us a huge amount of those are filled with our sisters -- celebrating with us, supporting us, or us supporting them -- enjoying times of pure joy and love. That is a gift we can give to others and increase for ourselves, so it's important to keep us growing. Look for women watching you when together, once conventions get going again, they will see you and some may even ask who you are. My chapter invariably has someone ask us that question when we are together because we are having so much fun. We were actually in a restaurant once with another group of women who were older, and having as much fun as we were, we asked them who they were and found out they were another chapter of sisters! The more moments and sisters we can share with, the healthier and happier we all will be. So, celebrate the new theme, "Watch BSP Grow & Bloom" especially when together. Have a wonderful new sorority year.
Your sister,
Laura Ross Wingfield
